Reports: Glaus received steroids

By john • Sep 9th, 2007 • Category: troy glaus

On Friday a CNNSI report came out claiming that a source in Florida with knowledge of the Signature Pharmacy said that four-time All-Star Troy Glaus had received multiple shipments of steroids.

The alledged shipments occured between September 2003 and May 2004. The substances nandrolone and testosterone were on Major League Baseball’s banned list at the time.

Glaus was deeling with shoulder injuries that caused him to miss much of the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He was named World Series MVP in 2002 and led the AL with 47 homeruns in 2000.

I’ve always thought of Glaus as Tarzan or some Flintstone character that would carry around a club and hit baseball’s to the moon. After all he’s even from Tarzana, California and has averaged a homer ever sixteen at-bats. I’ve been a fan of the former Angel for as long as I can remember. Maybe it was falling on his butt during Eric Milton’s no-hitter that did it for me.

I even went as far as writing a player page about Glaus and including it on this site. Much of his profile on wikipedia was written by me. I’d like to think Glaus is innocent but how do you determine who to trust and not?  As much as I’d like to believe he didn’t do the substances I would not be surprised at all. I’ll keep his profile page up on the site for now, but will probably be removing it when more information is revealed.
