Being Bored at work
By john • Oct 10th, 2007 • Category: UncategorizedI’ve sat here for most of the shift now. I’ve wanted to write about something, anything but haven’t found one topic that I felt I could legitly put a huge amount of thought into.
Probably the closest I’ve had was some brainstorming about the Indians and how it’s up to them to show that the AL is more then just Boston and New York.
Cold. That’s how it feels in here. I’m freezing and I left my coat at home. Further I grabbed my wife’s goody bag from this weekend instead of my lunch so hunger is also starting to set it. Not that I suppose I should be eating too much with my current weight. I guess I’m not fat though I’d rather weigh less.
I went for a walk outside around the buildings. It’s probably a little warmer out there this time of night. I’ve also nearly fallen asleep about every two minutes for the last hour. I’ve looked at our current unflattering financial situation and pondered why someone would leave a comment on a post I wrote over two weeks ago about the movie ‘In a Dark Place‘. That in turn made me wonder why Leelee Sobieski is such a bad actress but I won’t lie I only thought about that for about 45 seconds.
Sometimes when I’m at work a bunch of fleeting fantasies run though my head. At other parts of the shift I am finding myself playing the role of a bobblehead. The back is still very much in pain and to tell you the truth my legs have been sore lately as well.
Perhaps I’m just rambling on here.
I will tell you one thing that got my attention. Though I won’t say it wasn’t unexpected. Interchange Project Delayed the title read and right away I knew what it was referring to. After all the 410/I-10 amusement ride has been in the works since long before I even moved here. The whole thing is a huge mess and just about everyone who drives up and down 410 in the area can tell you the frustration with the area. It doesn’t even require a necessarily harsh time of the day for a backup to build. Word is the project is 88% completed but will have to wait until at least spring of next year for the completion.
With the time approaching 4 a.m. I have to be somewhat impressed with how quickly the night has gone. Of coruse there’s two others on my shift.
I’m just hoping to leave here around 7 a.m. this morning. I know I’m dreaming but hey.
Carrie went to the doctor’s today. They didn’t tell her anything that we didn’t already know. She’s pregnant. No kidding. She has another appointment on Monday. Which should be fun I guess. *cough*
