Horacio Ramirez gets a raise

Apparently even a 7.16 ERA can’t prevent you from getting a raise when it comes to arbitration.Horacio Ramirez while a member of the Atlanta Braves

The Seattle Mariners resigned the 28 year-old lefty to a $2.75 million dollar contract Friday. Ramirez started just 20 games last season posting a 8-7 record.

Ramirez was so bad for the team that they again experimented with Cha Seung Baek and briefly called up Ryan Feierabend from Tacoma to replace Ramirez.

Ramirez has been sidelined with injuries twice in his career (2004 and 2006) and has topped 180 innings twice including his 12-4 rookie season.

For his career he is 38-29 with a 4.61 ERA, batters have hit .281 against him in his 106 career games.

The battle for the fifth spot in the rotation will come down to Ramirez, Baek and recently added R.A. Dickey. If Ramirez is unsuccessful for the rotation spot he figures to be released.
