So my mom is going to Opening Night…

By john • Mar 26th, 2008 • Category: nationals park, opening day 2008, personal, washington nationals

My mom called me today to see how things were going. We talked about different things ranging from the new additions to where we used to live to dinner. Of course the big topic of discussion is the baby on the way. (scheduled March 31-April 3)

She also told me that she had tickets and was going to attend Sunday night’s game when the Atlanta Braves go into the brand new Nationals Park to take on the Washington Nationals.

She didn’t to ask but of course I was jealous after all I love baseball like a bazillion more times then her and of course I live three hours from Houston where the Astros who I absolutely hate play and nearly five hours away from my Rangers.

I told her without hesitation that I’d be watching the game and would be rooting for the Braves to win. Immediately she remembered I was a Braves fan. After all how could she forget how often the super station was on in our house and she could even tell you the name of my favorite player even though he’s not even on the team anymore. Sure I can’t see the Braves on tv anymore but I still like them. I mean I watched them for about 20 years of my life, you can’t replace that.

My mom is quite the fan of the Nationals. She even knows some of the players, has a couple of t-shirts and two years ago I got her a hoodie with the teams logo on it. Doesn’t mean I like em though, I mean there’s the Orioles there still and while I don’t like them like I used to they are still third on my list. Everyone else can suck it though, without doubt cept maybe the White Sox cause Carrie likes them. I’ve got Jim Thome as my wallpaper right now. Ok I’ve ran off track here.

I mentioned that we’d at least get to see some minor league action as that starts this Thursday. Well we might depending if the baby wants to come or not.

It’s easy to say I’d rather be at opening night or day for any big league team then the minor league season but well what can you do. Go Missions or something.
