7) Sidney Ponson having a great outing
Those are signs that the ends of time are upon us. Now that Ponson has had a good outing we should all prepare for the end.
Okay, so maybe Sidney Ponson having a good outing isn’t one of the seven signs for the end of the world but it’s not something that could have been expected to happen.
Ponson was making his second start since being called up to the big leagues and like his first he made the most of it. Ponson threw 76 of his 108 pitches for strikes working eight innings, allowing six hits and just one earned run picking up his first major league win since last May.
In Ponson’s two starts with the club he has given them a chance to win both times, allowing just one earned in his previous start against Minnesota. In that game defensive mishaps cost him a chance at a victory.
The Royals were also helped by a strong pitching performance in todays game as Zack Grienke allowed just solo home runs to Ian Kinsler and Ramon Vazquez.
CJ Wilson came in for the save in the ninth.
Ponson has already far and away done more then anyone could have expected considering how bad he was last season. He’ll continue to make starts for the Rangers for the time being.
