Huffman rebounds from lackluster 2007
By john • May 29th, 2008 • Category: chad huffman, minor leagues, san antonio missionsWith the way Chad Huffman preformed following his promotion to Double-A San Antonio last season it’s easy to see why his stock was down coming into this season.
That’s not to say the 23 year-old had a bad run in the Texas League. Expectations were high for Huffman last season following a promotion from Lake Elsinore where he hit .307/.402/.522 with 15 homers during 84 games. His stint in Double-A was solid (.269/.362/.431) but not spectacular.
A position change for Chase Headley would prevent Huffman from moving up to Triple-A for 2008. It was probably the best for Huffman. It gave him another chance to prove himself at the Double-A level.
Prove himself he has. Huffman has been one of the leagues better hitters. He’s not hit as many home runs as expected but he has connected with solid totals in doubles and overall his .323/.415/.497 line has given scouts reasons to look past his summer stint in the Texas League last year.
