Chipper Jones selection to the National League All Star team was the 6th of his career but the first since 2001. Sometimes players are selected to All Star teams based on previous years performance but Jones has earned this selection.

In recent years Jones had seemed to be a reoccuring trip to the DL with a pesky hamstring. Things are a little different this year as Jones who is hitting a league best .384 also leads the NL in On base percentage, OPS and has managed to stay in the lineup for the Atlanta Braves.

The success of Jones this year has not only earned him a selection to the All Star team but with his 400th home run coming earlier in the season sport writers every where are all agreeing that Jones is a sure bet hall of fame player.

It’s been nine years since Chipper was selected as the NL’s MVP but at 36 years old Jones is showing that he still has plenty of playing days in him.
