The Los Angeles Dodgers annouced the release of former big leaguers Mark Bellhorn, Ramon Martinez and Matt Riley Thursday night.

Bellhorn had simply struggled to hit at the Double-A level, Martinez was injury prone but surprisingly Riley had been effective.

Riley had signed with the Dodgers in 2007 and had been 2-1 with a 2.88 ERA with 55 strike outs in 40 2/3 innings at Triple-A this season.

The former third round pick of the Baltimore Orioles in 1997 was working his way back from his third Tommy John surgery.

While Bellhorn and Martinez may be looking at the end of their careers the 6′1 left handed Riley figures to find work within another teams minor league system.
