Jamey hopes Rangers make Wright decision
By john • Sep 16th, 2008 • Category: jamey wright, major leagues, texas rangersWhen the Texas Rangers brought back Jamey Wright for the 2008 season I commented that bringing back Wright following a career best 2007 season was a no brainier.
This season Wright has been very good out of the bullpen for the team, though a bad outing against the Angels saw his ERA jump some thirty points.
Sure Wright may never be the guy who will be much under 1.5 hits or walks an inning but Wright for most of the season was a calming face in the Rangers sometimes disastrous bullpen.
When the season ends Wright who has been one of the most used relievers in the American League will become a free agent.
Commenting on his future plans Wright spoke to the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
“I’d love to come back, but it’s just not up to me,” he said. “I like the group of guys. I like the fact that we improved. I want to be part of something that we build.”
Should Wright return to the Rangers for the 2009 season it will be his third with the club.
