By john • Sep 23rd, 2008 • Category: brandon mccarthy, major leagues, texas rangers

For all the hype that this blog tried to insert about Texas Rangers pitcher Brandon McCarthy we must now face the facts.

McCarthy will not pitch again this year. The news came from manager Ron Washington on Monday after an

MRI revealed a strained flexor tendon in his right middle finger.

McCarthy who was acquired for John Danks in the winter of 2006 was 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA in five starts after missing most of the year wire forearm issues.

In 28 appearances over 2 years for the Rangers McCarthy is a disappointing 6-11 with a

4.73 ERA. His K to BB ratio is 69/56 and his WHIP stands right around the dreaded 1.5 mark.
