Remembering Phil Bradley for no reason at all

It’s been ages since I’ve writing one of these but I remember the last time I thought about writing one of these it was about former Oriole outfielder Phil Bradley. That was because I found a half sized card of the Indiana native while moving stuff around after our move to Indiana.
Odd I suppose, even more I didn’t know Bradley was even from Indiana until I had already started writing this post proving I barely read the baseball card that I did find.
So to sum up Phil Bradley in a few lines would be a hard thing to do since I don’t really know anything about the guy even though he did play in 1022 games at the big league level.
I almost think this post should be written as a comedy act since I don’t quite know what I am talking about.
Bradley spent 8 seasons in the majors from 1983-1990 playing for the Seattle Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox.
In 1985, his third season, Bradley had a career year hitting 26 long balls, driving in 88 and hitting over .300. Bradley would never top 15 home runs in any of his other 7 years in the big leagues and never had more then 67 RBI in any season afterward.
In addition 1985 marked his only appearence in an All Star Game, he was 0-1 striking out in his lone at-bat.
Bradley stole 20 or more bases 5 times, including a career high of 40 in 1987.
An outfielder, Bradley played the bulk of the time in left field.
Here’s something you may not know about Bradley. He hit the first home run during a night game at Wrigley on August 8, 1988. Unfortunately for Bradley the homerun was later taken away since the game had to be called due to rain.
Overall dispite this really bad entry Bradley was a pretty good leadoff hitter, a guy who on three occasions scored 100 times. His speed was solid on the basepaths and he was quick out of the batters box.
My hope is that Phil Bradley or his family members do not read this. To be honest everyone is better to almost forget everything I wrote and just check out this guy. Baseball Todd’s Dugout.
