Dodgers showing interest in Jack Wilson

Faced with the reality that Rafael Furcal is on his way out of town the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking for his replacment.
The team is again showing interest in Pittsburgh Pirate shot stop Jack Wilson. Which begs the question of why a team would want to take on a player such as Wilson who has only twice posted an OPS over .690.
Wilson was a 2004 All-Star and had a productive 2007 season with the Pirates but that is about it.
While Wilson may still be a good defensive player it’s also worth noting he hasn’t played more then 150 games since 2005 and for the most part of his career been the kind of player who would hit above the pitcher.
His career line is .269/.312/.375 with a .687 OPS in 1084 games for the Pirates.
The Dodgers would figure to be offering Chin Lung Hu in return for Wilson. Hu for those not familiar with the Dodgers is a 24 year old from Taiwan who has spent hte last 6 seasons in the Dodgers organization. He’s had call ups for the Dodgers the last two seasons but little success. A quick glance at his minor league stats shows an inconsistent player. Sound familiar?
While I’m not saying that Chin Lung Hu or even Tony Abreu who hit a very Jack Wilson like (.271/.309/.404) during his rookie season in 2007 before missing 2008 are the answers but can they really be any worse then Wilson?
For crying out loud free agent Luis Rivas who will likely come to camp as a Spring Training invite for a team sports a career line of .258/.303/.377 which is just a hair below Wilson’s career line.
