Mike Lincoln gets multi-year deal
By john • Dec 4th, 2008 • Category: cincinnati reds, major leagues, mike lincolnThe Cincinnati Reds signed Mike Lincoln to a two year contract keeping the 33-year-old reliever with the team.
Last season marked the first action for Lincoln since 2004 following back to back Tommy John surgeries. He finished the year with a 4.48 ERA in 70 1/3 innings. He had previously spent time with Minnesota, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.
It’s a bit of a surprise that Lincoln got a two year deal worth $2 million after Bob Howry who has a better track record had to settle ofr a one year deal worth $2.75 million from the San Fransisco Giants.
One would even have to wonder if former big leaguers turned minor leaguers Ray King, Adam Bernero, Tomo Ohka, Scott Sauerbeck, Bobby Livingston, Jeff Harris, Oscar Villarreal, Yorman Bazardo, John Van Benschoten, Cliff Politte, Roberto Novoa, Julio Mateo, Travis Chick, Kiko Calero or Mike Bacsikwould be better investments. Afterall they would cost nothing more then the league minimum and wouldn’t require a two year committment.
To think they say we are headed for a recession.
