Baseball Awards

There is a seemingly endless supply of awards given out to baseball players.

Hutch Award - In honor of Fred Hutchinson, a former player and manager who died of cancer at the age of 45m the Hutch Award is given to the player who best exemplifies the fighting spirit and competitive desire to win. 

Lou Gehrig Memorial Award - Originally created in 1955 honring former player Lou Gehrig this award is given to the player who best exemplifies Gehrigs character and integrity on and off the field.

Roberto Clemente Award - Given annually to the player who beset exemlifies Roberto Clemente’s character and charitable contrubions to the communtiy. The award was originally named the Commissioner’s Award but was renamed aftger Clemente’s death in a plane crash while delivering supplies to earthquare victims in Nicaragua.
