Range Factor

Simply stated, range factor is the number of plays made per game at the fielding position. It’s better than fielding average because it takes into account the fielder’s own ability to get to a batted ball. To get the figure, add putouts and assists, multiply by nine, and then divide that number by the number of defensive innings played.
