Remembering Phil Bradley for no reason at all

By john • Sep 24th, 2008 • Category: baltimore orioles, chicago white sox, phil bradley, philadelphia phillies, remembering for no reason at all, seattle mariners

It’s been ages since I’ve writing one of these but I remember the last time I thought about writing one of these it was about former Oriole outfielder Phil Bradley. That was because I found a half sized card of the Indiana native while moving stuff around after our move to Indiana.
Odd I suppose, even [...]

Playing out the season… or not

By john • Sep 23rd, 2008 • Category: baltimore orioles, major leagues, top story

It’s no fun to be playing out the season with no chances of post season play but you do it. It’s a scheduled game, there are some fans who still care, and frankly it’s your job.
The Baltimore Orioles announced yesterday to the amazement of no one that since the organization was going to miss the [...]

Went to Camden Yards last night

By john • Aug 27th, 2008 • Category: baltimore orioles, camden yards, major leagues

So I went to Camden Yards last night. It had been a few years since I last went there but walking back though those gates brought back some memories.
While the game featured the Orioles (a team I grew up sometimes watching) and the White Sox (my wife’s favorite team) the real reason for going to [...]

Is it the noose for the Moose?

By john • Apr 28th, 2008 • Category: baltimore orioles, mike mussina, new york yankees

I turned on the broadcast of the Yankees and Indians game to see that Mike Mussina was pitching out of trouble in the bottom of the fifth inning. Mussina was already over 80 pitches but did manage to escape the inning allowing just two runs despite having the bases loaded with no outs at one [...]

Jeff Conine calls it a career

By john • Mar 29th, 2008 • Category: baltimore orioles, florida marlins, jeff conine

Known as “Mr. Marlin” thoughout the organization it’s no surprise that Jeff Conine wanted to retire as a member of the team he helped to World Series titles in 1997 and 2003.
Conine began playing for the Marlins in 1993 going 4-for-4 in their opening game and later winning All Star Game MVP honors in 1995.
In 1,014 [...]

Gibbons suspension put on hold

By john • Mar 28th, 2008 • Category: baltimore orioles, jay gibbons, steroids

Major League Baseball has pushed back the suspensions of outfielders Jose Guillen of Kansas City and Jay Gibbons of Baltimore 10 days while negotiations with the MLBPA continue. This could be a precursor to the suspensions being dropped altogether.
Gibbons is owed $11.9 million over the next two years from the Orioles despite offering next to [...]

This is one tough task but I’ve decided to try and fine a reason to like each of the 30 teams in major league baseball. Now some were easier to find then others and while some will disagree for the reasoning I’ve done my best I think.
I hope to continue this series by creating a [...]

Orioles offer very little at short

By john • Mar 8th, 2008 • Category: baltimore orioles, brandon fahey, freddie bynum, luis hernandez

The battle for playing time at short stop on the Baltimore Orioles is one awful competition that is going to leave everyone dissapointed.
Luis Hernandez, Freddie Bynum and Brandon Fahey all entered camp looking to fill the hole created by the trade of Miguel Tejada.
I’ll be Frank and you can be agreeful and we’ll both admit [...]

By john • Feb 26th, 2008 • Category: baltimore orioles, non roster invitee, steve trachsel

As I take this time to write about Steve Trachsel, the Orioles’ non roster invitee, I remember when I used to live in Maryland and some of my trips to Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
I am probably best served to write about that at another time as the organization seems to be still years away [...]
