By john • Jul 7th, 2008 • Category: major leagues, rich aurilia, san fransisco giants

After a down 2007 season it appeared that Rich Aurilia was at the end of his playing days. The 37 year old reported to the San Fransisco Giants this spring unsure of where he would play on the diamond.
With the season half over it’s clear Aurilia does belong on the diamond. He’s hitting .284 with [...]

Maybe Barry Zito can still pitch?

By john • May 26th, 2008 • Category: barry zito, major leagues, san fransisco giants

It appears Barry Zito can still pitch. That or he got lucky his last four starts in which he posted just a 3.22 ERA.
Zito of course is just 1-2 during that span but has not allowed more then three runs in any of those starts, and in that game he got a no decision leaving [...]

Zito avoids 0-8 start, actually has quality start

By john • May 12th, 2008 • Category: barry zito, houston astros, mike martoh, san fransisco giants

I suppose all good things must come to an end some time and that includes the insanity surrounding Barry Zito and his 0-7 start this season. Tonight Zito took a 3-0 lead into the sixth before singles and eventually a Lancer Berkman home run tied up the game.
Zito who signed an 7 year $126 million [...]

By john • Mar 31st, 2008 • Category: los angeles dodgers, san fransisco giants

One of the biggest rivalries in baseball is the one between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Fransisco Giants. These two teams have battled each other dating back to their times in New York. They both moved west and the rivalry has expanded to the host cities. San Fransisco and Los Angeles compete [...]

This is one tough task but I’ve decided to try and fine a reason to like each of the 30 teams in major league baseball. Now some were easier to find then others and while some will disagree for the reasoning I’ve done my best I think.
I hope to continue this series by creating a [...]

Non Roster Invitee: Scott Williamson - Giants

By john • Feb 23rd, 2008 • Category: non roster invitee, san fransisco giants, scott williamson

The San Fransisco Giants are the oldest team in the league so it’s no surprise that they have invited a bunch of guys with tons of minor league experience but no major league time to camp. One exception is reliever Scott Williamson.
Flashing back some of you probably remember Williamson being an All Star and winning [...]
