Maddux haunts former team
At the end of last season Greg Maddux was helping the Los Angeles Dodgers into the post season. On Saturday Maddux faced off against his old team and pitched a gem.
Maddux had his best outting of the season going 7 innings allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits and a walk, striking out three.
Scott Linebrink and Trevor Hoffman finished out the game, which was Maddux’s second win of the season.
When Greg Maddux takes to the hill in his next start he will be doing so against his former team the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers currently lead the NL West with the Padres right behind.
The Dodgers starter is unannounced since Jason Schmidt went on the DL. Personally I’m hoping to see Joe Mays get called up but it probably won’t happen.
Greg Maddux suffered his second loss of the season to the Colorado Rockies and youngster Jason Hirsh.
Maddux pitched well enough to be considered for a win after going seven and allowing four runs. While Maddux allowed seven hits, he walked only one, didn’t give up a long ball and the Rockies only stole one base against him.
Hirsh picked up his second win of the season after allowing just two runs over seven. He struck out seven and allowed four hits in the matchup.
The loss snapped the Padres three game win streak and prevented a sweep in Colorado.
After a few months of the old layout, I’ve grown tired of it’s cluttered look so I’ve gone ahead and changed it again.
There’s a few hickups still but things should be ironed out in the next day or two.
I hope this doesn’t inconvience anyone viewing the site.

Greg Maddux made his first start in Chicago since signing with the San Diego Padres Tuesday.
Maddux was long gone though before the game ended. After allowing three runs over five innings the San Diego bullpen took over.
Maddux didn’t receive a decision and the Padres ended up winning in the 14th with help from Geoff Blum. Blum also was responsible for hitting the game 14 home run in the 2005 World Series against the Houston Astros.
The next start Maddux will make will be Sunday in Colorado. On the mound for the Rockies will be rookie Jason Hirsh (1-1, 3.38). Hirsh out pitched Maddux in the first meeting of the two earlier this season. In his career Maddux is 6-1 with a 5.96 ERA in eight career starts at Coors Field.
Greg Maddux pitched six scoreless innings Wednesday allowing six hits and striking out five to pick up his first win of the season.
The Padres went on to win 4-0 after relievers Cla Meredith, Scott Linebrink and Doug Brocail pitched scoreless relief innings.
On the reason for his success Maddux spoke “Down and away … there’s no secret, Just locate the ball and change speeds.”
The win was the 334th of his career.
