Maddux returns to Chicago
By john | April 19, 2007
Greg Maddux made his first start in Chicago since signing with the San Diego Padres Tuesday.
Maddux was long gone though before the game ended. After allowing three runs over five innings the San Diego bullpen took over.
Maddux didn’t receive a decision and the Padres ended up winning in the 14th with help from Geoff Blum. Blum also was responsible for hitting the game 14 home run in the 2005 World Series against the Houston Astros.
The next start Maddux will make will be Sunday in Colorado. On the mound for the Rockies will be rookie Jason Hirsh (1-1, 3.38). Hirsh out pitched Maddux in the first meeting of the two earlier this season. In his career Maddux is 6-1 with a 5.96 ERA in eight career starts at Coors Field.
