Blum & Maddux power Padres, Hoffman saves 500
By john | June 6, 2007
Geoff Blum drove in four runs, one shy of a career high, in a Padres win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Maddux on the other hand was his typical self. Maddux pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing 5 hits and two runs. While he struck out none, he walked just one.
The Dodgers scored one in the 5th after back to back singles by Jeff Kent and Luis Gonzalez. Russell Matin would drive in a run with a sac fly.
After a homer by Jeff Kent, Luis Gonzalez walked in the 7th.
With the Padres up 5-2 Trevor Hoffman came in with a chance to save his 500th career save. After allowing a lead off double to Nomar Garciaparra, Hoffman got Jeff Kent and Luis Gonzalez to ground out. Russell Martin struck out to end the game to give Hoffman #500.
Congrats to Trevor.
