Maddux to face Cubs Sunday
By john | June 15, 2007
Here’s the MLB comments on Greg’s upcoming game against the Chicago Cubs.
Sunday June 17, 2007 - Wrigley Field
| Greg Maddux, RHP (5-3, 3.86) Padres (38-27) |
@ | Rich Hill, LHP (5-4, 2.81) Cubs (30-35) |
Padres: Maddux didn’t have his best stuff in his last start but he was effective nonetheless and held the Rays to three runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings. He was in line for his 339th career win, but two uncharacteristic defensive errors coupled with an even less-likely leaky bullpen saw the Padres lose by seven and Maddux take the no-decision. He’ll go against the Cubs, the team that drafted him in 1984 and with which he spent the first seven years of his Major League career. He’s 11-3 all-time with a 2.48 ERA against them.
Cubs: Hill did not get a decision in his last start against the Mariners. Among the hits off the lefty was an RBI single by Seattle pitcher Jarrod Washburn. Hill had trouble with his command in the game, as well as his funky delivery. He hesitates at some point, and has been warned that it must be a continuous motion with no stops.
