Players who have followed Maddux’s career
|
Tim Hudson Hudson pitches much the same way as Maddux. He doesn’t strike out a ton of hitters and can be counted on for a quality start just about every time he goes out. After six stellar seasons in Oakland that saw him take over the role of an ace on a young Athletics’ team, nearly win a CY Young award, 16 complete games, 8 shutouts and 92 career wins Hudson signed with the Atlanta Braves in the winter of 2004 at the age of 29. Hudson gives the Braves hope that he can be just like Greg Maddux and keep up the tradition of winning in Atlanta.

John Lackey Before the match up the then 25 year old praised Maddux. Lackey was fortunate to pick up the win in the game as both pitchers pitched well. While Lackey hasn’t quite met the standards that was set for him when he rose though the Angels system he has pitched well at times and seems poised for a breakout at anytime. Lackey would be hard pressed to reach the highs of his rookie season after winning Game 7 of the 2002 World Series for the Anaheim Angels. |

Bobby Jenks When the 2005 season started Bobby Jenks found himself in the Minor Leagues at AA Birmingham. A few months later Jenks found himself in the World Series closing out Game Four to win the Series of the Chicago White Sox. Jenks doesn’t pitch like Maddux at all. A former starting pitcher, Jenks projects as a top of the line closer who can reach 101 on the gun. Jenks should be able to create a spot for himself as one of the games best closers for years to come. |
