2004-2006

Timeline 2004 - July 31, 2006

After the 2003 season the Braves were unable to keep Greg due to financial restraints. The Cubs took the chance to bring back the man who had broke their hearts. In Chicago he would be united with a trio of young Cub pitchers by the names of Prior, Wood and Zambrano. The trio had grew comparisons to Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz. In his first season as a Cub he notched his 300th career victory and picked up his 14th Gold Glove Award.

2004
February 18
The Chicago Cubs signed Free Agent Pitcher Greg Maddux to a 3 year deal worth 24 million dollars. Maddux had received interest from the Orioles, Giants, Dodgers, Marlins, Cardinals and Yankees over the last few months. Just days ago all reports had him signing with the Yankees. However, those reports were dashed when the Cubs signed the pitcher.
March 7
Needed only two innings and twenty-three pitches in a Cub uniform to convince Cub faithful that signing Greg Maddux was a great idea. Maddux pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three and allowing one hit against the Kansas City Royals
