July 12, 2008
Greg Maddux became the oldest pitcher in big league history to steal a base at 42 years and 89 days when he stole a base against Atlanta on July 12, 2008. Jim Kaat had the previous mark. It was Maddux’s 11th stolen base of his career.
August 19
After failing to come to an agreement prior to the trade deadline the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers do agree on a trade for Maddux. The Dodgers will send two minor league prospects or cash considerations.
